Daily Devotional Day 6

miraclesMIRACLE – Jesus Calms the Storm
Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him.  Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”

He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”

POINT TO PONDER
Much in your life you are able to control.  You even change channels with your “remote control”.  If someone is driving too slow, you change lanes.  If the cashier at the check out stand is too slow, you change lanes.  People change jobs, houses and automobiles.  You even control the temperature in your home and car with a thermostat.

But, life has storms which you have no control over.  And those storms can even threaten to drown you.  It is in those very moments, you are reminded of the miracle working power of God.  Jesus “got up and rebuked the winds”.  There is power over the storms.  And God is able to to speak peace and calmness to the winds and waves of turmoil in our lives.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, forgive me in my frail attempt to control every situation in my life.
Lord, I release to you control of my life and my most difficult situation.
Lord Jesus, I ask in your name that you bring peace and calmness to the storms.

40 WAYS I CAN PROVE THAT “WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE”
Jesus said to them, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”  Matthew 17:14-21 (NKJV)
