MIRACLE – Jesus Heals Simon’s Mother-In-Law
As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told Jesus about her.  So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them.

That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed. The whole town gathered at the door,  and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.

POINT TO PONDER
There is power in family prayers.  You may have heard the words, “a family that prays together stays together.”  Today’s devotional miracle is the story about the power of a praying family.  Simon invited James, John and Jesus to make an unusual house call. As a result of a praying family, Jesus touches his mother-in-law and she is healed.

But, the story does not end with the family’s miracle.  The story goes on to report how the entire city is impacted by the praying son-in-law.  As a result of this family’s prayer many people are healed for all kinds of diseases.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, today, I pray for our family.
Lord, touch those in our family that struggle and suffer,
Lord Jesus, I pray that you would reach down and physically touch and heal their bodies.
Lord, I pray that as a result of our family’s prayers, that our entire city would be touched.

MIRACLE – The Faith of the Centurion
When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help.  “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering.” Jesus said to him, “I will go and heal him.”  The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”  When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, “I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.

I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.  But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”  Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! It will be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that very hour. Mathew 8

POINT TO PONDER
Do you believe in the power of a church prayer chain?  Some do and others don’t.  This is a miracle that is directly result of the power of a prayer chain.  One man carries the burden of another person’s suffering.  And he carries that burden directly to Jesus.

His faith is so great that he ask Jesus to simply, “say the word” and he believed that his friend would be healed.  This is the only time in the gospels you discover Jesus beings “astonished”.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, put within my heart the sufferings of others.  Lay such a burden upon my heart.
Lord Jesus, empower my faith to be as great as the centurion, trusting you to “just say the word”.
Lord Jesus, I can’t ask that my faith would astonish you, but I do pray that my faith would grow.

and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”  Matthew 17:14-21 (NKJV)

MIRACLE – The Man with Leprosy
When he came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. A man with leprosy​a​ came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”  Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cured​ of his leprosy Mathew 8

Leprosy was a disease of devastation.  An illness without a cure.  An illness without hope. When Jesus reached out and touched this man he was immediately cured.  His illness and hopelessness were transformed by the miracle working power of God.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I know your powerful touch can bring complete healing.
Lord Jesus, I pray for such a miracle.  Let the illness of devastation be gone and bring forth complete healing, in Jesus name.
Lord Jesus, I pray where there is no hope, that your touch would health and hope.

Daily Devotional Day 1

WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE
I am excited you have decided to join me on this incredible journey through the New Testament Gospels.  Matthew, Mark, Luke & John record many amazing stories, teachings and miracles performed by Christ.  In the next forty days we will focus upon the many miracles Christ performed.

MIRACLES
The disciples came to Jesus privately and ask, “Why could we not cast it out?”
Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”  Matthew 17:14-21 (NKJV)

Nothing is impossible for GOD.  There is no problem, sickness or situation that can stop GOD’S miracle working power.  This scripture reminds us that it is not a lack of God’s power, but a lack of our faith.  And faith is something that grows.  Scripture tells us, “faith comes by hearing, and hearing the WORD of God.”  Again, thank you for joining me in this FAITH journey.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I pray that you open my heart to receive your WORD.
Lord Jesus, I pray that you plant a “mustard seed” of faith within my heart.
Lord Jesus, I pray that in the next forty days, as I read and pray through your WORD that your MIRACLE working power will be poured out in our community, church, family and my life.
